Lord we are aware that human beings prefer to follow their own fancies and turn their own way. We insist we know what is best for us even though the disastrous results may be self-evident. We question the reasons for everything that happens to us. We are often quick to forget our blessings, slow to forget our misfortunes.
Lord you are the way, the truth and the life. We come to you to have life and to have it more abundantly. We trust you to lead us in the way of righteousness. We refuse to be self-willed, proud and self-sufficient.
When we believe our affairs are in God’s hands, every event, however joyous or tragic is taken as God’s plan. This leads us into a wide area of peace, quietness and strength for every situation.
Lord we thank you because you look at all people with compassion. The ones who human society has no use for are the ones you are most interested in. We thank you because you are always ready to help, save and restore us. Thank you for taking us in your hand and applying the keen cutting edge of your word to our lives. Thank you for restoring us when we need to be set free from our selves. Thank you because we are assured that you always know what you are doing with us. We want to follow and be led by you. True to your word, you let us catch our breath and send us in the right direction. As we walk with you, we shall discover abundant life, increased health, wholesomeness and holiness.
